On even given week, you can find Brooks Adaptive Sports and Recreation participant Wesley Johnson fine tuning his archery and shooting skills.
The local veteran of the Army National Guard has been selected as the recipient of an Action Trackchair by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. The presentation took place on March 27th at the River Bend Golf Links, kicking off the 14th Annual Murray Bros., Caddyshack Charity Golf Tournament. The charity golf event will benefit the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
Inspired by Wesley’s determination, the Foundation said it was honored to support his road to recovery.
Three years ago, Wesley was involved in a tragic automobile accident. At the age of 25, he became a quadriplegic with limited use of his arms. Prior to the accident, he was an avid outdoorsman, spending much of his free time in hunting and fishing.
Instead of giving up on his passion for the outdoors, Wesley approached his newfound situation with a positive attitude and renewed determination. His positive spirit hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Actor and comedian Bill Murray awarded Wesley with an Action Trackchair in person the Caddyshack Charity Golf Tournament event. The state-of-the-art wheelchair will give Wesley more mobility, allowing him to get back to what he loves …. hitting the outdoors.
